1402 Coconut Palms Pondside Plein air Alla Prima

I went to Immokolee today for the Art Mundo paintout. Immokolee  is a historic home here in Fort Pierce.  Its a lovely home and yard, a great place to paint.  I had a good time, there is lots of nice things to paint there.
This is a pretty pond they have, its surrounded by giant ferns and these plants with small bright red flowers whose name escapes me.  The butterflies love them and I saw a lot of giant swallowtails and zebra butterflies.
Art Mundo provided nice cold soft drinks and water and the owners of Immokolee gave us some donuts, I couldn't ask for anything more.

The painting is 5 x 7, oil on masonite.  $100.

Daily Painting 1400 Green House on Ave. D. Plein Air

I did this at the Souvenirs of Downtown Fort Pierce paintout so its not available right now.  It was fun to paint, I was sitting across the street with a friend of mine in a yard with no trespassing signs on it.   It looked like it was going to pour down rain too.  So we painted fast, figuring we would either get run off or rained on.  The rain blew over, one drop only landed on me and nobody made us leave.

Its 8 x 10,inches  oil on masonite.

Daily Painting 1398 Two Salmon Hibiscus miniature oil painting

I always liked these, I still have plants from cuttings of the original salmon hibiscus that I grew up with.   I tried twice to get the right colors from my painting onto the computer and had no luck.  Its pretty close, I think they look much prettier in real life, the oranges are softer and lighter in the painting.  The center of the right hibiscus is darker and so are the stamen ends.  I feel very frustrated, LOL!

Its a miniature painting, 4 x 6 inches, oil on masonite.  $100.

Daily 1397 Tabebuia Tree by the Backus House

This is unavailable at the moment, its one of the paintings I did at the Backus House Souvenirs of Downtown paintout.  I had a wonderful time, it was wonderful visiting with everyone.  We got treated beautifully, got three meals every day!  The first dinner was just for the artists, that was really nice.  Then there were two nice receptions, during the big one there was a big rain storm so there weren't as many people coming out, mainly artists and their friends and families.

The painting is 8 x 10, oil on masonite.  There is a yellow tabebuia tree next to the Backus house and in the back is the melon colored cottage.

I did six other paintings over the three days,  I was pretty happy with most of them.

Lovely Lemon Tree, a Florida Citrus Oil Painting of Lemons by Judy Batterson

Growing up in Florida, I took it for granted that everyone had a lemon tree or citrus of some sort. As kids, it was like having decorated Christmas trees in the yards. The beautiful ripe yellow lemons were tart on the inside though. Just like the old song about the lovely lemon tree. As an adult, I now look at the lemon like life....when life gives you lemons, make lemonade or lemon cupcakes or lemon martinis! Price $300, 9 x 12" original oil.

Daily Painting 1396 Saint Lucie River North Fork Vista White City Park

I took a walk in White City park with my husband on this new trail. The trail isn't new but it was new to me. There isn't a whole lot to see till you get to the end where there is a bench that over looks this lovely view. This is just part of the view, there is something nice to see all around. Its 8 x 10, oil on masonite, $200.

Plein Air Painting at Boca Grande

Easter Morning
Acrylic on panel, 10 in. x 8 in.

I visited Gasparilla Island State Park on Boca Grande on Easter Morning. I walked past the lighthouse and found a spot where I could watch the barn swallows swooping over the dunes. It was so windy I had to sit in a beach chair and paint in my lap. To purchase this painting or to view my other artwork, visit Sharon Guy Art.

Daily Painting 1394 Beach Winds at Pepper Park

I went to Pepper park a few weeks ago and saw these shrubby trees, I liked how they looked and wanted to paint them. They are over the dune line from the beach so you can't see the ocean in the painting. its 8 x 10 oil on masonite. $200.

Towards the Light, Abstract Oil in Blues by Judy Batterson

This loose flow of color is a bit unusual for me, but I wanted to try to express in paint what goes on in my head. If you swim underwater and look up, you swim towards the light. If you are in a storm, you know the sun still shines way above the clouds. We are always seeking the light. The bands of blue represent going from darkness into light. Our souls are drawn towards the light to give us life and hope. Price $500 Original oil on gallery wrapped canvas.

Plein Air Painting in the Wind

March Storm
Acrylic on panel, 10 in. x 8 in.

Here is the second of two paintings I did on a stormy, windy morning in March. The water had a greenish tinge, and the light fell on the horizon, creating a band of light green water. An occasional change of weather is a good thing in Florida, as far as I'm concerned. To purchase this painting or see more of my art, visit my website at Sharon Guy Art.

This is a plein air painting I did at the Greathouse Butterfly Farm,
Earlton, Florida. The wisteria was in full bloom and I couldn't resist
doing a little painting of what I saw.

Daily Painting 1393 Sunny Path at Sexton's Ranch

This is 8 x 10, oil on masonite. I like it a whole lot better in real life, I am not seeing the colors that are in the painting on my monitor. The grasses and mother-in-law pods are more golden- white instead of the brown-white they are here. Its got lots of nice textures too. $200.

Plein Air Wave Studies by Sharon Guy

Wind and Waves, Acrylic on panel, 10 in. x 8 in.

On a stormy March morning, I sat in a chair near the water and studied the waves. It was too windy to use my easel, so I painted in my lap. A grey, stormy day is refreshing to me. The colors of the water changed as the sun came in and out of the clouds. To purchase this painting, visit my website at Sharon Guy Art.

Plein Air Painting of Dunes

By The Dunes
Acrylic on Canvas, 20 in. x 16 in.

This was the first time that I've painted on a canvas this large during a plein air session. I usually work fairly small. I liked working bigger because I was able to paint using loose strokes with a big brush. Original paintings are available through my website at: Sharon Guy Art. Affordable prints are available at: Sharon Guy.
