| Purchase here It's hard to go wrong with a blue and yellow painting.....it just shouts "Cheerful". The background was painted with a brush, but I used a palette knife on the flowers and grasses. That's when it started to be really fun!
I feel like I was able to capture the feel of the day......I hope it made you smile!

The painting below is another of his quickie demos.
Elio lives in the bay area, but he comes to Florida to teach each spring and fall. I highly recommend his workshops. If you are interested in attending a workshop, or a three hour demo, check out his schedule at his website. www.colorrelations.com.
This week, my sweet granddaughter, Courtney, graduates from University of Florida!! Congratulations Courtney!! We are so very proud of you! Now, onward to medical school.

Printmaking on Paper, Original Art "STAG BEETLE" The Art of Nature, Fine Art by Mindy Lighthipe
This Stag Beetle is one of an Artists' Proofs I have done as I experiment with Solar Etchings. Solar printing allows me to do my drawings on paper, create a negative scan of the drawing and then burn the images onto a plate that is exposed to light. The result is similar to traditional intaglio printing but I don't have to work in reverse or worry about making a mistake on the copper plate. Once the plate is exposed to light, the image is burned into the plate. I then ink the plate, wipe it clean and the ink that remains is left in the "burned" recessed areas of the plate. The plate is hand pulled through a traditional press and the remaining ink creates the image.

Tropical Landscape Painting, Palm Tree Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 8x16" Original Oil Painting
Another piece inspired by the Florida Keys, and one of those glorious sunsets!

I remember this spot well. We were at an open air restaurant on the water's edge. Very laid back with this beautiful scene before us. When I say we were on the water's edge, I mean where the restaurant stopped, (no walls, just a roof) the water started! How could we not enjoy our meal? I don't remember what I ate, or the name of the place, but I do remember it was on the ocean side on Marathon Key. If I could find it again, I would go in a minute, just to experience the atmosphere and enjoy a glass of wine. Sigh! Carol Schiff www.CarolSchiffStudio.etsy.com www.CarolSchiffStudio.blogspot.com |
Original Florida Coastal Landscape Red Cottage Painting "Off the Beaten Path" by Florida Impressionism Artist Annie St Martin
FRESH OFF THE EASEL
Okay I have to admit it!! If I see an interesting dirt road I feel compelled to investigate. Of course if there is a no trespassing sign with a picture of a gun.. I'll move on. Seeing a flicker of a bright melon orange colored cottage through the trees peeked my interest. It sat next to a thatch roofed gazebo. Beyond was an area untouched and full of tropical vegetation.
Who lives in this interesting cottage?

Spring Workshop with Elio
Twice a year I travel to Amelia Island, FL to attend a 3 day workshop with Elio Camacho. Elio is a wonderful instructor, and it is always a hard working, but fun few days.
He has a fabulous color sense and brushwork, and is very knowledgeable in all art related subjects, from art history, to technical aspects of paints and brushes.
I love the colors he chose in this three hour demo above. He always does a large demo, usually 36x48", which is a highlight of the workshop. Please click on the picture to enlarge it and see the brushwork and color changes.
This painting and the one below are mine, from the workshop.
Elio spent a year working only with the color yellow, another with green, blue etc. He did set ups to challenge us. This one was green and blue. The theory is, you will learn to see all the nuances of color when you paint objects that are the same hue, but different temperatures and saturation.
I don't think my workshop paintings are really showing any improvement for me, but I do feel improvement when I paint at home. His instructions jump into my head, and I find I am much more critical of my finished pieces. That has to be a good result!
I am already booked for his November 2017 workshop in Fernandina Beach. Want to join us?

Coastal Landscape Painting,Palm Trees "Too Hot To Handle" by Florida Impressionism Artist Annie St Martin
Too Hot To Handle is an oil painting done in the palette knife technique. You can almost feel the extreme heat of the day radiating from the sun to the ground and rising in a fog. Done with a very limited palette.

Alligator Painting, Wildlife Painting, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, 6x8" Oil on Panel
These guys are not uncommon sights in Florida. Sometimes you see them snoozing in the sun next to a road. Golfer's here usually have a scary encounter to tell.
This was my third attempt to paint this fellow. I had difficulty getting the drawing correct, as well as the color. The image I worked from was not exciting. Eventually, I think I worked it out.

Still Life, Watercolor Fine Art Painting "2 EGGPLANTS" The Art of Nature, Fine Art by Mindy Lighthipe
Purple is by far my favorite color! I had fun doing these 2 eggplants as a part of my online watercolor class demonstrations. I used lots of strong color to get the bold dark almost black purple and hardly any color on the variegated one. It was challenging and I enjoy pushing myself in different directions, learning just how far I can push the paint. This listing is for the original and ships free in the continental USA. All other inquires please contact the artist for shipping costs.
