The Little Brown Bat is common throughout the USA. They are insect-eating bats and locate mosquitos and other flying insects using a system called echolocation. Echolocation is when the bat emits a high frequency sound that bounces off an objects in their flight pattern. It helps them to locate the size of their prey by listening to the sound that echos back to them. Little brown bats are nocturnal and hunt just after the sun goes down. They can eat half their body weight or more in insects per night which makes them an excellent addition to your backyard!
