Ocean Wave Painting, Coastal Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, SOLD

For lovers of the sea!

I did a few small paintings where I focused in on a wave, instead of my usual long distance view.  I was not sure they would be successful, but they both sold quickly.  Both clients have similar reactions to them.....they felt the paintings revived wonderful memories of their times in or on the ocean.  I decided to try a few more.

SOLD
The original is sold, but, it looks really cool, as a giclee print on distressed wood planks.  Contact me, if you are interested.  Also available as a giclee on canvas.

Abstract Seascape | Daily Painting | "Tropical Blues" by Carol Schiff | 6x8" Oil SOLD

When I lived close to the sea, I found that it turned up in my painting in both a representative and non-representative form.  I guess this little daily painting falls somewhere between the two.

SOLD

I painted this with a palette knife.  I like texture and feel it adds additional interest to my art.  I was thinking about the beautiful greens and blues of the tropical waters off the coast of Florida.  Further south they turn the most amazing shades of azure, but that will be another painting.

I almost always show my paintings in black frames.  It would be hard to find an artwork that would not work well with black and it just makes the colors pop.

Beach Oil Painting, Florida Painting, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, 6x8" Tropical Painting

I recently returned home from four wonderful days on Amelia Island, Florida.  The ocean is often very calm there....not a good surfing place.  One evening we stood on the beach and watched dusk descend over the water.

purchase here
It was the first time I have been inspired to do a landscape in quite awhile.  I felt very relaxed, just painting this peaceful scene.  Hope you like it!

Have a great day!

Small Seascape, Daily Painting,, Small Oil Painting, "Favorite Beach", 6x8" Oil

Few things in life are as soothing to me as watching clouds move over the mountains.  Walking on the beach is  one of those things.  What is it about these scenes  that makes them so appealing?

Is it the endless repetition?  Rather hypnotising, don't you think?  Maybe it is the everlasting beauty of the scenes.....the permanence.

purchase here
$99 plus shipping
I don't have the answer, but I know I know I enjoy painting the scenes almost as much as being there, taking a deep breath of that sea breeze or crisp mountain air.

Enjoy the day....whereever you are!

Thanks for reading my blog today.

Small Seascape Sunset Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 6x8" impasto painting

I don't know how you start your days, but, whenever possible, I love to grab my camera and a cup of coffee and head to the beach to watch the sun come up.  With a morning like that, it is impossible to have a bad day!

Purchase here

I like texture in my art and one of my favorite tricks, is to take a failed painting, leave the texture and use the panel again.  Sometimes it works, sometimes not.

Many artists use their canvases more than once, but convential  wisdom is you must sand it down.  I
sometimes do that too, but if I want to do a little expressionism, I say, why destroy all that lovely texture?

Beach Sunset, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, 6x8" Original Oil Painting

One of my favorite places to be, when the sun goes down, is on the beach.  Of course, on the east coast of Florida, there is no show, but a short 3 hours away, on the west coast......waaaazaa!!

Purchase here

It is such a stunning sight and there is always a crowd of people, gathered to say good bye to the day.

This little painting brings back those spiritual moments, as I remember the peace and quiet that we all felt as the sun fell behind the sea.  If only we could capture that feeling and keep it with us always.

Have a peaceful and lovely day....and thanks for visiting today.

Daily Painting, Original Seascape, "Off Shore Storm" by Carol Schiff 6x8" Oil

The other day my husband and I went for a walk on the beach.  Although it was sunny when we left home, ten minutes later black clouds were rolling in over the waves.

Purchase here

The clouds had not yet completely obscured the horizon leaving a strip of aqua sunlight on the sea.

When I came home, I went straight to the easel, painting this from memory.

Seascape Painting, Small Oil Painting, "The Green Sea" by Carol Schiff, 8x10x1.5" SOLD

Living on the coast of Florida, I love going to the beach for inspiration.

SOLD

The mood and colors of the sea change drastically and often, so you never know which sea you will find.

Some days it is hot and hazy, or choppy or calm as a lake.  The color may be blue, green, turquoise or maybe muddy.  When a storm moves in, everything changes quickly.

The mood of my seascapes also change.  Some of  them are full of texture and color, some not so much.  This one was quite a challenge for me, I just couldn't mix the colors I wanted or make my brush behave.  It took a few tries, but eventually I created a painting I was happy with.
