After the Tusunami , 18 x 28 was original painted for South Korean Exhibition Visible Poetry Connecting the World, founder Yoo Choong Yeul, event by Hanam City. It is mixed media that is poured and painted with over 6 layers to achieve the translucence of the underwater ocean depth against the layers of rock in contrast with the power of the the waves. Fragments of the ominous event almost seem like child-like playful balls that would lure one in. Balls that carry with them the concerns of nuclear fall out.

In the spirit of Andy Warhol and David Hockney , Acrylics on Canvas, in the spirit Andy Warhol, “Coming Home” takes us on a journey of a child in the presence of the fallen Japanese Maple leaf. Strong vivid contrasting color applied with purposeful brush strokes separating the shapes to leave art as a story telling experience.

This artwork exhibits – Gogyoshi Art Project International in Museum of Kumanovo, Skopje, Belgium with the poem, Taro Aizu Book, My Fukushima, poem. The Exhibition brings awareness to the nuclear disaster in 2011 Fukushima, Japan. Original is sold.

The Phoebis philea butterfly is commonly known as the Orange Barred Sulphur. It is found mostly in the tropics but makes its way to Florida where it has 2 broods a year. The painting is done with an underpainting of lavender paint to get form and then the yellow and orange was placed on top of the underpainting. It was an experiment is painting in compliments...... yellow/purple.

Every semester I take my students to the Florida Museum of Natural History. They have an amazing collection of skulls in the Mammalogy department. For this drawing I drew this Reindeer skull. The specimen was from a reindeer that was kept in the Miami Zoo. I was able to find what their hoof prints looked like and was able to reconstruct the head from the skull. The paper is 300 lb watercolor paper that is hand torn for a deckled edge.
