SUMMER'S GONE, 6X6, OIL, SOLD
Don't you just love sunflowers? They are so expressive the way they follow the sun with their heads. I especially love the giant 7 foot tall ones.
I love the way they poke their heads between the slats of a fence as if they are saying hello and then they bow when their time is gone.
I am happy to announce that I have been invited to join DailyPainters.com. I hope you will take the time to visit my gallery on their wonderful website.

Original Coastal Landscape Painting ,Palm Tree, Pink House Art "Island Life" by Florida Impressionism Artist Annie St. Martin
I found this little pink cottage tucked away next to the water. This, I thought, would be a wonderful place to paint. With it's lovely charm and surroundings it would be a great environment to keep those creative juices flowing. However, its present owners felt the same way I felt...oh well...I'll have to find another little cottage tucked in the woods.

Abstract,Mixed Media Oil and Acrylic, 10x10" "Layers II"
I have been feeling really adventurist lately and have been experimenting with some mixed media works. The key word here is "experimenting" which means I have put in lots of hours and not so much in the "results" catagory.
I used an acrylic pouring medium on my support and found a nice harmony of colors. When it had dried, I started working over it with my oil paints
I tried to let areas of the underpainting show through.
I always enjoy working on something new and I am sure I will be trying this technique again in the future.

Impressionism Landscape Seascape Oil Painting "Slipping Away"by Florida Impressionism Artist Annie St. Martin
Here I am capturing a sunset over the untouched Everglades in Florida. This dreamy place...the sky and the water...spectacular with it's complimentary colors of orange and blue. Another miracle, a haven for so much wildlife...we have to preserve this gift.

BEACHSIDE - 8X10 - SOLD
I got interested in doing seascapes. I was at the beach with my camera and was inspired by all the beautiful blues and greens in the water. I did 3 8x10's and 4 5x7's, so far. This is the first one I did and probably my favorite.

The Block Party is a palette knife done with oils. Koi ponds and Florida seem to be a great fit. The koi are so friendly and always on the search for a little snack or maybe just a visit. They seem to live in a perpetual party state. When I would go outside to feed my koi they knew it was me and always seemed overjoyed to seem me. That's why I named my painting The Block Party. I always loved a Block Party!

Florida Landscape Painting, Palm Tree Art, "Twins" 18x14" Oil
An ode to my home state...two stately palms residing on the banks of the intra-coastal waterway.
Painted with my favorite instrument.....a palette knife. I like the way I can transition from one color to another with my knives. I kept this painting quite smooth in comparison with many of my palette knife works

The Mucky Duck is located on Captiva Island in Southwest Florida. Internationally recognized fun spot...it is beachfront dining and playing at its best. The view is spectacular with the waters of the Gulf of Mexico as a backdrop .. The colors are a wide range of aqua blues and every blue imaginable. Water activities abound ... but my favorite is by far the blazing sunsets. Absolutely glorious.

cow portrait, daily painter, Hereford painting, original wall decor, small oil painting,
A client wanted a cow painting, for licensing purposes. I usually do daily painting of still life or landscape, but I have to admit I enjoyed both the horse, they originally chose, and this cow painting.
I painted on Senso linen canvas. I had a pad of the linen around for several years but didn't really know what to do with it. I found it had a different texture than the cotton canvas I usually paint on, but once I got into the painting, it was fine.
My next problem was what to do with this unstretched painting. After surveying several friends, I mounted it on a cradled wood panel. I was told the perfect glue to use is YES GLUE available at craft stores. I had some in my stash and I have to say it worked like a charm. Then I trimmed the edges with a exacto knife and it turned out perfectly. Now I can use the rest of my Senso linen canvas with no fear!
So, today I stretched my limits, both with the Senso canvas and the cow painting, and luckily both worked out for me!

Mixed Media Abstract, "Aged Copper" 8x6" acrylic
I have been playing with mixed media since returning from my Carol Nelson workshop last May.
It's a whole new creative outlet for me and I am really enjoying the journey. The fun part is finding ordinary household items and using them in new ways. I do a lot of recycling with my materials too.
You know how I love texture! This piece does not require a frame either. Hope you like it.
If you have any interest in this area, I highly recommend Carol's workshop.

BEACH SUNRISE, 5X7, OIL - SOLD
I really enjoy doing these small seascapes. I always seem to relax when I am working on them.
This one seems so tranquil, I think I may just go back to bed now.

Horse Portrait, "The Mare" 6x8" Daily Painting SOLD
Our neighborhood is not really rural, but we do have horses living in the area.
This one is very friendly and often comes over to greet me as I walk by her pasture. She was even kind enough to pose for a photo.
I am always looking for new subject matter, so I decided to give horses a try. This is my first attempt. Since, I have done one more. I enjoyed painting them, but do have a difficult time getting interesting photos of them. Sometimes, I think becoming a photographer is a prerequisite to becoming an artist. Some would say the trick is to sketch, sketch, sketch to know your subject well and paint from your sketches. A valid point, but I prefer to use my limited time painting, so, I look to all the advantages modern technology has given us to work with.

My artwork on distressed wood planks
Something new and exciting is happening in my studio! Several years ago I agreed to license some of my work through a company who manufacturers gorgeous giclee prints on distressed wood planks.
They do a beautiful job and make my artwork look so good.
I really like the look for rural and mountain paintings.......
.
as well as beachy scenes.
I added text to this one...something new for me.
So what is so new and exciting? For the first time, I am able to offer these for sale on my Etsy site. I am adding more each day and will continue to update with new selections as they are released.
I hope you will check them out here at my Etsy store, CarolSchffStudio
Wishing you peace and joy!
