They seem to live in a perpetual party state. When I would go outside to feed my koi they knew it was me and always seemed overjoyed to seem me. That's why I named my painting The Block Party. I always loved a Block Party!

The Sally Lightfoot Crab is an amazing array of dazzling color! I saw these crabs while visiting the Galapagos Islands. At different stages of their lifecycle, they molt their outer shells and emerge with a different color combination. As juveniles they are a darker indigo blue and as they age they become more brilliant and multicolored. I painted this on Fabriano Artistico Soft Press 300lb watercolor paper. I first used watercolor to establish the basic colors. The rocks were done with a granulating watercolor called hematite. I finished the painting using colored pencil and pastels for do the details on top of the watercolor.
