Botanical Fine Art Painting, "GREEN CHICKS AND HENS" The Art of Nature, Fine Art by Mindy Lighthipe
Hens and chicks are a favorite in my garden. I love they way they group and readily multiply as they spill over rocks and create a wonderful ground cover. Here I played with variation in mixing greens. It was interesting to see how many shades of green were in such a small section. I magnified the drawing to give it impact and stand out. Such small things are often overlooked.

This orchid is a Paphiopedilum, often called the Venus slipper. It is a genus of the Lady slipper orchid and has the most unusual waxy flowers. Many orchids are found high in the tree canopy but the Paphiopedilum is a terrestrial orchid is found on the forest floor. This orchid is the Paph.rothschildianum.

Abstract Sunrise Painting, Palette Knife Abstract, "Intracoastal Sunrise" by Carol Schiff, 14x18x1.5" Oil SOLD
I painted this abstract sunrise painting after spending the night on the boat, anchored at Mosquito Lagoon. It was a hot night with no power on the boat and mosquito's everywhere! We started out the next morning in the dark and soon saw this gorgeous sunrise.
I painted this after I returned home with brush and palette knife.

Contemporary Modern Abstract Art Paintings by Filomena de Andrade Booth
It's been just over 2 weeks since my
husband had his second knee replacement surgery. He's healing very well
but still needs a bit of help. Nearly every day has been taken up with
trips to doctors or physical therapy.
I've
been missing my time in the studio and am looking forward to this
weekend where, hopefully, I'll be able to get back into my painting
routine. Anyway, I got these sample paints from Chroma. They are doing
a test marketing of a new formula for their heavy body acrylic paints,
and I can't wait to try them out. These aren't the colors I would
normally use in my work, so it should be interesting to experiment with a
new palette. I'll keep you posted on the results.

Rose Painting, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, 6x8" Oil Painting on Panel
Yes, another rose painting! But quite different than my last post.
I have been on quite a flower painting jag lately, and still have more to come. I spent the month of April in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and was inspired by the beautiful show from Mother Nature. Flowers were everywhere, especially the trees and bushes.
Now that I am home again, I cannot stop looking at my stash of photos and painting flowers every day.
Yesterday, I went to Bok tower, here in Florida, with my paint buddies, and got inspired all over again. Miles of beautiful gardens!
