On Thursday morning, I arrived at the Osprey Bay Preserve to paint with the Light Chasers group. I could only stay for a couple of hours, and had to finish the painting later in the evening from memory. What I remembered the most was the peacefulness of the preserve. It is a piece of paradise. Rosita, Tropical Oil with Boat, Water, Island by Judy Batterson

Pthalo blue and pthalo green made the perfect combination to paint the color of the waters at the southern tip of Florida and beyond. The boat, named Rosita, is anchored while people go island hopping. I love to visit the Keys and see the color of the water! Using a professional photo to enhance my memory of the color, I painted this in my friend Kaye's studio. She gave me helpful tips to capture the movement in the water. Sometimes it's nice to paint together and share ideas with other artists.

BeachParty At Jaycee Beach

There was a beach party with a camp group who had come to play at the beach one day last week.

Along with some beach sitters and their colorful umbrella, I wanted to recreate their enjoyment of being there and bouncing in the waves.
