Mead Garden Turtle, Impressionistic Oil Landscape by Judy Batterson, Florida Artist

In Winter Park, Florida, an untouched natural piece of Florida has been preserved. Known as Mead Garden, it is tucked away behind neighborhoods. I took my children exploring there like I used to do so they could find the pond where turtles are always sunning themselves on fallen logs. Generations continue to go there to see the turtles. The pond has lily pads and heavy, shadowy foliage which made an Impressionistic composition with cool colors. Original Oil on masonite. Framed 18 x 18" Price $600

Mead Garden Turtle, Impressionist Florida Oil Painting by Judy Batterson

In Winter Park, Florida, an untouched natural piece of Florida known as Mead Garden has been preserved. It is tucked away behind neighborhoods as Winter Park's secret garden! My children explored there like I used to do. The serene 47 acres have a swamp boardwalk, a butterfly garden, shady pathways, and a pond where turtles sun themselves on fallen logs. Generations continue to go there to see the turtles. The pond has lily pads and heavy, shadowy foliage. Hence the Impressionistic composition with cool colors. 18 x 18" original oil.

Mead Garden Palms, a Florida OIl Plein Air Landscape by Judy Batterson

Painting en plein air on location at Mead Garden, I set up my easel on the west side of the turtle pond in the back of the Garden. This area is almost jungle like with so many moss covered trees, palms, reeds, as well as otters, turtles, gators and water birds. The sun hit the palms and highlighted the back of the pond. My focal point became the trio of palms in front of a mossy oak with dark shadows in the underbrush. This spot captured the true essence of natural Florida! 9 x !2 OIl.

Mead Garden Turtle, Pond and Turtle Oil Landscape by Judy Batterson

In Winter Park, an untouched natural piece of Florida has been preserved. Mead Garden is tucked away behind neighborhoods and has provided children a place to explore for years. Turtles are always sunning themselves on fallen logs in the pond. Generations continue to go there to see the turtles. The pond has lily pads and heavy, shadowy foliage which made an Impressionistic composition with cool colors. When I went to sketch and paint, science classes were having a field trip there. The children were thrilled to find the turtle! 18 x 18" oil on masonite. Selected for "Simply the Best" book by Timothy's Gallery and Art-Exchange.
