Rose Painting, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, 6x8" Oil Painting on Panel
Yes, another rose painting! But quite different than my last post.
I have been on quite a flower painting jag lately, and still have more to come. I spent the month of April in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and was inspired by the beautiful show from Mother Nature. Flowers were everywhere, especially the trees and bushes.
Now that I am home again, I cannot stop looking at my stash of photos and painting flowers every day.
Yesterday, I went to Bok tower, here in Florida, with my paint buddies, and got inspired all over again. Miles of beautiful gardens!

Marsh Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, "North Florida Marsh" by Carol Schiff, 9x12" Landscape, SOLD
I recently spent a few days in Fernandina Beach and stumbled across one of their beautiful marshes. I have always admired marshes and their beautiful colors which change with the seasons.
I like texture in many of my paintings and I always enjoy playing with a palette knife.
I also like to push color. Elio Camacho is a master of pushing color.....check out his work here.
I was in Fernandina Beach to attend his workshop and I hope I was able to use some of his technique in this painting. The workshop was fascinating and I have already signed for a follow-up early next spring.

Have not done a still life, or a palette knife painting for a while, so this one was in my comfort zone.

| SOLD I naturally tend to lean towards cool colors, so I had fun working all my favorite color relationships. |
This scene is a repaint, from years ago. I couldn't find the original photograph, but I did have a photo of the first painting, so I used that as a guide. The first painting was done with a brush, which is why I decided to mix it up a little, by using a palette knife this time around.

She sent me several images, but this was her favorite. I had admired this image on facebook. It was a picture of her, with her pup on her lap, both of them staring intensely into the camera.
Sadly, this sweet dog is no longer with us. My friend was so affected by the painting, she cried when she saw it. I was affected by her response and got a little teary eyed too.
I know she is missing her companion, especially over the holidays. I hope that in some small way, this portrait helped to fill the void.
In my next post, I will show you another dog portrait commission that I completed over the holidays.

This is my last painting for 2017. I thought for quite a while about what to call this piece. It occurred to me that sometimes it's best to forge ahead into the future and not look back at the past. I hope 2017 has been uneventful for you, but if it hasn't, look at the promises that lie ahead in the new year.
Don't Look Back measures 30" x 30". This textural, acrylic modern art abstract painting is stretched on 1.5" gallery wrap canvas. The 1.5" sides are painted in a shimmery gray/black Micaceous Iron Oxide. Only the finest professional artist materials were used in the creation of this work. The painting is signed on the side, dated and signed on the back. It is wired and ready to hang. A light coat of clear acrylic varnish has been applied to seal and protect the beauty of this painting.
