A very textured piece with unconventional accents including altered Tyvek. This piece reminded me of what you might see if there was a shoreline in the desert. The colors reflect the rich warmth of a dry climate and the textures reflect the debris that might have been left after waves retreat.

The Atlas Moth,  Attacus atlas is considered to be the largest moths in the world in terms of total wing surface area. Their wingspans are also amongst the largest, from 10-12 inches. Females are appreciably larger and heavier. The triangular marking on each wing is transparent.

The Burrowing Owl is a very small ground dwelling owl. I was really surprised when I saw them. I thought they would be bigger but they only stand about 6-8 inches tall. They live in small burrows int he ground much like prairie dogs. They scurry around the ground and if a predator gets close they rapidly run down into the hole. This little guy was a delight to watch. I went with a friend to a place in Cape Coral which is known for protecting these endangered owls. He came out of the burrow and started to stretch his wings. I had such a great time that day and hope to do more paintings of these delightful little owls! This listing is for an original watercolor. It is on Fabriano 140 lb watercolor paper.
