"Blue Cypress Sunset" If you're a fisherman, you may have been to this large lake 20 miles west of Vero Beach. Pristine Old Florida with one fish camp, cypress forests, osprey nests and gators. If you like nature, this peaceful place is magical, especially at sunset. Framed large oil painting on display at Let Us Frame It in Orlando, FL.

Reeds and Red Boat, Soft Impressionistic Plein Air Painting by Judy Batterson, Florida artist
Central Florida has so many beautiful lakes. This was painted at Lake Jessamine in Orlando. Across from where I set up my easel, was a small cove where a little red rowboat was pulled up into the reeds. The early morning light made soft atmospheric blocks of color. And the lily pads made a peaceful scene. 9x12 original oil.

The Lake at Dusk, Oil Landscape by Judy Batterson

While painting outside on a beautiful day, I turned to look across the lake and could not believe that the sun was going down. I had been in the "zone" where a painter is so enthralled with painting that I became unaware of time. The trees across the lake were darker as they became backlit by the sun. I painted quickly to capture the mood of the clouds with the light peeking from where the land jutted out into the lake. It seems simple, but, oh, it's a challenge to capture light and dark on canvas while the light is changing! 8 x 10" oil on canvas.

Reeds and Red Boat, Florida Lake Landscape by Judy Batterson

Painting en plein air, I set up in the morning on a dock jutting into Lake Jessamine. On the shoreline was a little red boat pulled up into the reeds. The morning sun made the reeds golden with light. The lily pads and small palms caught the sunlight, too. While I was painting, the waves in the lake made the dock sway constantly. Challenging to an artist! I'm going to set up on solid ground from now on!! 9 x 12" original Oil

Morning at Lake Jessamine, a Contemporary Impressionism Oil Painting by Judy Batterson

Painting "en plein air", I tried to capture the light and shadow of the morning. The lake is a huge lake with pieces of land that jut out around the large center of it. Large trees surround the water, and the houses on the lake have beautiful views of nature. My focus was on the impressions of light and how it made dark contrasts of the trees and the water. Painting outside on a beautiful day is one of my favorite things to do! 9 x 12 original oil.
