Lighthouse Beyond the Dunes, a Florida Plein Air Beach Oil Painting by Judy Batterson
At the north end of New Smyrna Beach there are large sand dunes next to the inlet to the Indian River. Across the inlet is the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse. I set up my easel in the dunes so I could paint the lighthouse across the water. I could hear the waves, the gulls, and the boats. Plein air painting is an experience for the senses! I could see the sailboat masts along the docks and watch the cloud formations behind the lighthouse. The view was captured on a 5x7 canvas! ($75 plus shipping)

My inspiration for this series of Bahamas Paintings is the beautiful clear water, the delicate colours of water and sky, the absolute pristine surroundings. I feel total peace and contentment in the Bahamas. I lived on Andros and Freeport Island for many years. Each year I return to the out islands and hold workshops painting en plein air. Please email me if you wish to be on a list of students who will attend.

Ponce Inlet Lighthouse, a Small Oil of a Famous Lighthouse by Judy Batterson

This small oil painting of the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse is a companion piece to the Ponce Inlet Sailboat. The lighthouse is on the north side of the Inlet where the river and ocean meet between Daytona and New Smyrna Beach. I climbed it once and the view was amazing! It is still a working lighthouse and a landmark in this area. 4 x 4" oil on canvas with easel $55
