A New Day Blooms, Plein Air Florida Oil Landscape by Judy Batterson, Florida Artist

A Sitting in a field in a beautiful park in the early morning, sunlight got my attention because of the shadows of the trees and blooming flowers. Light changes fast so it's a challenge to capture it. My focus was on my easel, paints and the beginning of the day. 8x10" oil on canvas.

St. John's River, a Florida Plein Air Painting of Fisherman in a River Wilderness by Judy Batterson, Florida Artist

With my easel on a houseboat in the St. John's River, I painted the pristine wilderness around me. One lone fisherman floated by, looking for a catch, as was the osprey that circled overhead. Cypress trees, mangroves, aquatic plants and gators were part of the river scene in Florida's pristine wilderness. 7" H x 5" W Price: $75.00

Rose Garden Trellis, an Original Plein Air Oil Landscape by Judy Batterson

Looking through the trellis, the sunlight was intense on yellow roses. I stood in the shade of the red roses. This painting was a joy to paint because the day was so beautiful outside. Cypress Grove Park in Orlando has beautiful gardens, fields, and dock on a large lake. What fun to capture it in oils!

Lighthouse Beyond the Dunes, a Florida Plein Air Beach Oil Painting by Judy Batterson

At the north end of New Smyrna Beach there are large sand dunes next to the inlet to the Indian River. Across the inlet is the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse. I set up my easel in the dunes so I could paint the lighthouse across the water. I could hear the waves, the gulls, and the boats. Plein air painting is an experience for the senses! I could see the sailboat masts along the docks and watch the cloud formations behind the lighthouse. The view was captured on a 5x7 canvas! ($75 plus shipping)

Dunes, a Florida Beach Art Oil Painting by Judy Batterson

This painting of sand dunes was painted with the alla prima technique. I set up my pochade box (small portable paint box) right next to the sand dunes at Smyrna Dunes Park. Painting layers wet on wet made me quickly capture the dunes while the sun was overhead. The ocean breeze made the heat bearable. All in all, it was a beautiful day to paint. 5"H x 7"W Price: $ 75.00

Rock City Gardens by Jani Lori

8x10 oil on linen panel
Plein Air by Jani Lori
The first time I went to Rock City Gardens, a commercial nursery, was many years ago with my Dad. He loved the different garden plants and the many unique garden pots, sculptures and fountains. He wanted to take me there because he knew I would love it too. He was right... I had no idea then that today I would be standing on one of the paths painting..

Plein Air Painting of Dunes

By The Dunes
Acrylic on Canvas, 20 in. x 16 in.

This was the first time that I've painted on a canvas this large during a plein air session. I usually work fairly small. I liked working bigger because I was able to paint using loose strokes with a big brush. Original paintings are available through my website at: Sharon Guy Art. Affordable prints are available at: Sharon Guy.

Florida Beach Scene by Sharon Guy

Red Tower
Acrylic on panel, 10 in. x 8 in.

Beach towers add color and structure to a painting. I like doing plein air paintings with a strong, simple, composition. The bright, red tower makes a nice contrast with the white sand. This was painted early in the morning while the sun was behind me. I'm lucky to be able to paint outside in the winter without being cold. Sharon Guy Art

Painting from the Art Mundo sponsored Plein Air Paint Out at Adam's Ranch. I arrived late in the day, just as the sun came through the overcast sky. Set up quickly and took advantage of the light. Love to go back there and wander through this amazing acreage.

Saint Helen's Church by Jani Lori

8x10 oil on linen panel
Jani Lori
Second Day of the Plein Air Paint Out. Very sunny but very windy, so I found a sheltered spot across from St. Helen's Church. The church is hard to miss in Vero Beach as Route 60 West curves around this impressive building. From this location you are unable to appreciate the length.
The "I Love Vero Beach " Plein Air Gallery Tent at the corner of 14th Ave and RT 60 Saturday and Sunday 9 to 4.
