Florida Coastal Landscape,Seascape Painting, Roses,"Coastal Sea Roses"Florida Impressionism Artist Annie St Martin

Coastal Sea Roses is a palette knife done with oils. Imagine the pop of bright pink, lacey sea roses. Their fragrance and delicate look are so captivating. You just have to stop and smell the roses. Impatiens spilling out of an old wooden window box, eating chowder and clam cakes and can you smell that sea air?

This painting is SOLD, but prints and greeting cards are available HERE.

Impressionist Floral Painting, Daily Painting, Roses and Pear, 14x18x1.5" Oil

In early November, I attended a workshop with Elio Camacho.  I have to say it was four hard working, but enjoyable days.  He is a wonderful instructor and has given me to courage to attempt new techniques.

He has helped me tremedously with seeing color.  I was not reading the reflection on the bottle as lavander until he pointed it out to me.  Of course, his use of color is what attracted me to his work in the first place.

I like the soft colors here along with the soft edges.

I have plans to return for another session with him in March.  I am working hard to  put his techniques into practice in my work and I am excited to see where this journey will take my art.

Thanks for reading my blog today.

English Roses, 6x6 Oil Painting by Carmen Beecher

$99, Click to Purchase
This has been very hard to post, because the colors don't look exact on my monitor. I have spent a lot of time trying to get it exact, but it still doesn't satisfy me, and it may look different on your computer. At any rate, this is close, but the sky in the actual painting is warmer than it looks here.

Rose Bowl, 7x5 Oil on Canvas by Carmen Beecher

This was a painting of red bowls. I let it sit on my easel and hated it more each day, though I liked the colors. I finally painted over it completely and used the same color scheme. That's the nice thing about oil paints, they are fixable.

Art restorers frequently find that the old masters had other paintings underneath their masterpieces. There's one thing for sure: the painting underneath is not a masterpiece, or they would not have painted over it. Just let that thing stay hidden under there, complying with the artist's wishes. You would not want to embarrass him by revealing his red bowls or whatever...

Does Zen Roses, 5x7 Pen and Ink Drawing

I guess I got tired of round roses. This is a Pen-and-Ink Zentangle drawing. matted in an 8x10 mat. People frequently say, "Painting must be so relaxing for you artists." Really? Well, it sure can make me tired, depending upon how complicated, elusive, or aggravating the subject. I must say, however, that when it goes well I get that artist's high that means I really like what I've done. Zentangle drawings are the truly relaxing forms of art for me. I can be as fanciful as I wish and it's like a form of meditation. It's even better than those trays of sand with little rakes in them.

Rose Garden Trellis, an Original Plein Air Oil Landscape by Judy Batterson

Looking through the trellis, the sunlight was intense on yellow roses. I stood in the shade of the red roses. This painting was a joy to paint because the day was so beautiful outside. Cypress Grove Park in Orlando has beautiful gardens, fields, and dock on a large lake. What fun to capture it in oils!

"Sally's Roses in a Brandy Snifter", 10x10, oil on canvas- by Maryanne Jacobsen

"Sally's Roses in a Brandy Snifter", 10x10, oil on canvas
(Note: you can click on the image to see the impasto better.)

My friend Sally has a garden full of beautiful roses. Whenever I visit her, she has them placed around the house in different vases and I always am eager to snatch some photos for references for future paintings.

I like the way this painting came out. The impasto in the flowers is hard to see from a monitor, but there is beautiful harmony between the flowers and the background. The painting has happy pink roses teamed up with shades of blue, green and purple. The painting is sale priced with free shipping for Memorial Day weekend! I hope you enjoy Sally's roses as much as I do! Please visit my blog at Paintdance if you would like to purchase this painting through PayPal.

Kate in the Rose Garden, Outdoor Garden Scene by Judy Batterson

This 16 x 20" oil painting is from an outing at Harry P. Leu Gardens in Orlando, Florida. Little blonde Kate, standing next to a fountain in the Rose Garden, studied the pinks of the roses and watched the butterflies. Her godmother Whitney captured the moment in a black and white photo. I captured the moment in oil on canvas. Her mommy Cara was the happy recipient of the painting and photo. Leu Gardens is a beautiful place for photography and for painting!

Roses in a Blue Vase with oranges, 10x10, oil on linen, by MAryanne Jacobsen

Roses in a Blue Vase with oranges, 10x10, oil on linen

Finally today, after months of being unable to paint, I turned out a painting that I'm somewhat happy with. I think I need to submit a claim to BP for lack of inspiration as a result of the ecotage that's been perpetrated in the Gulf of Mexico.

If you wish to purchase this painting, send me an offer at maryannejacobsen@aol.com. Please put the word 'offer' in the subject area, or visit me at my blog at PaintDAnce.
