With my easel set up on a houseboat deck in the middle of the St. John's River, I painted the pristine wilderness around me. One lone fisherman floated by, looking for a catch. A Sitting in a field in a beautiful park in the early morning, sunlight got my attention because of the shadows of the trees and blooming flowers. Light changes fast so it's a challenge to capture it. My focus was on my easel, paints and the beginning of the day. 8x10" oil on canvas.

Sitting in a large window overlooking a well manicured courtyard, I painted live inside a gallery. The view was of palms,flowers and a lovely fountain in the middle of a large upscale outdoor mall in Orlando. People love to watch artists paint. Watching the osprey circle overhead, I was mesmerized. The large bird spotted fish in the tannic brown waters of the St. John's River. Bright green aquatic plants lined the side of the river next to mangroves, cypress and grasses. I had a great view with my easel on a houseboat in the river. This 5x7" oil painting was inspired by a vintage Florida postcard of oranges and grapefruit. Growers have been putting hand-picked tree-ripened citrus in baskets since 1922. The fruit baskets are still packed by hand for fresh delivery from Florida.

The weather was perfect when I set up to paint in the middle of the field at Cypress Grove Park. The morning sunlight hit the large oak trees and the grass with intensity. This painting is all about the dramatic darks and lights that I saw before me. I loved mixing the oils and capturing the morning on canvas!
