Mountain Landscape Painting, Misty Mountain Morning, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 6x12" Oil Landscape

Mornings in Carolina are so special.

purchase here

One of my favorite ways to start the day, is sipping my coffee on the deck, while the morning mist burns off.  It is so peaceful....as if I am alone in the world.  Sounds are muted and I feel protected.

The Cherokee named it Nantahala, which means "land of the mid day sun".

Enjoy your day!

It was a beautiful day, and not long after this hike, we had a picnic.  Yummy sandwiches on home made bread, fresh fruit, delicious apple cake from the orchard, and a beautiful view.  Life at it's best!

Small Landscape Painting, Blue Ridge Mountains, Wildflower Painting, Daily Painter, Small Oil Painting

Last fall, we took a ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway.  It was a crisp, sunny day and my camera was busy clicking away.

Purchase a Giclee Print here

It's hard to go wrong with a blue and yellow painting.....it just shouts "Cheerful".  The background was painted  with a brush, but I used a palette knife on the flowers and grasses.  That's when it started to be really fun!

I feel like I was able to capture the feel of the day......I hope it made you smile!

Mountain Landscape, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Smoky Mountains 6x8" Oil Painting

I have been in North Carolina for the past month, so naturally we had to take a few drives on the Blue Ridge Parkway.  I always think it will not be so impressive this time, I have seen it many times.  But, I never fail to see a view that requires a quick intake of breath!

Trying to get the effect of the morning mist was the challenge here.  Not sure I pulled it off, but it is a good try.  Practice makes perfect.

Thanks for viewing my blog today.

Mountain Painting, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, "Mt Rainier" by Carol Schiff, 8x6" Oil SOLD

I wanted to do a mountain painting.....but this time it is not the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina.  After a trip to Mt, Rainier in Washington state, I had to paint it!

SOLD
Everything is bigger and more rugged in the west and Mt,. Rainier is the biggest of them all.  It looms over you in the Seattle/Tacoma area......a very massive and impressive sight.  I was surprised to see it poking through the clouds during our flight.

It's not just the mountains that are larger in the west.  I was also fascinated with the tall, tall trees.  It was a great trip and I cannot wait to visit again.

Are you ready for Thanksgiving?  I see a turkey in my future!

Farm Painting | Daily Painting | Small Oil Painting | Barn Landscape | Carolina Mountain Farm by Carol Schiff | 6x12x.75"

This is a scene I see every day when I am in Carolina.  I pass this beautiful meadow and barn on my morning walk and it never fails to impress me with it's beauty

Purchase here

No matter the season, I enjoy this sight.  I guess it is just my own little piece of heaven.  I have painted the barn many times, from different angles.  I have hundreds of images of the property.

It evokes memories of the simpler days of my youth and the rural area of Northwestern Ohio where I lived.  No open meadows there, but country roads with fields of tall corn growing right up to the edge of the road.

Thank you for reading my blog today.

"Ridge Line" 6x12" Palette Knife Painting SOLD

It is hard to beat the beauty of the mountains, especially when the sun is setting.

We were enjoying dinner at a friend's house when the sun put on this wonderful display.  The watercolor sky was impossible to ignore and the trees on the ridge appeared on fire as the sun dropped behind the mountain.

Sunsets are truly one of life's jewels.  Enjoy!

Mountain Range, Daily Painting, Small oil painting, 11x14x1.5 Oil SOLD

I have been working on multiple commissions since July, which has  made it difficult to keep up with my daily paintings.  This is one of the commissions that I delivered recently.

SOLD

The client is an excellent photographer who lives in the Blue Ridge Mountains.  I was supplied with his image, which is the view from his home.  The mountains in the photograph showed the distinct edges, I believe to be lines of trees on the ridges.

It was an enjoyable painting to create and the customer was happy with the end results.

Have a great December day!
