This 12 x 24 oil painting is from a houseboat trip along the St. John's River. The yellow sky is from the sunrise. The palms lined up for miles on the water which was filled with gators while birds were everywhere. Quite an adventure! This painting is now on exhibit at Leu Gardens until July 9, 2014.

Watching the osprey circle overhead, I was mesmerized. The large bird spotted fish in the tannic brown waters of the St. John's River and got them. Bright green aquatic plants lined the side of the river next to mangroves, cypress and grasses. I had my easel on a houseboat in the middle of the river with a great view. Sunsets are like snowflakes. No two are alike, and they are all beautiful! I love to watch the sun set over the Indian River with the palm silhouettes against a vivid sky. the ball of light drops fast behind the horizon, and the clouds determine how the light is dispersed in the sky. Always a breathtaking sight! I love to paint sunsets! 6" x 12" oil on 3-D board.
