Impressionism Seascape Sunset Oil Painting "Fire in The Sky" by Florida Impressionism Artist Annie St Martin

Fire In The Sky is an oil painting in the palette knife technique. On a hot, late afternoon summer day, the sun started to set with an explosion of color. Quickly it slipped away. I was so happy to have seen it.

Oil Painting, Ocean Clouds, Original 8x10 Oil on Canvas Panel, Seascape by Carmen Beecher

There was a heavy cloud in the foreground as I stood on the beach, and bright stripes of sunlight farther out to sea. Colors in the ocean are all about what the sky is doing, and I love when it takes a dramatic turn.

Man o' War, 5x7 Oil on Canvas Panel, Beach-Themed Painting by Carmen Beecher

Sold

This is a Portuguese Man O' War, and it is quite beautiful in a weird way. It has tentacles with a painful sting, and even when it's lying on the beach those tentacles need to be avoided. Now here's the weird part: this is actually four organisms living in cooperation (wish Congress could do that). The sail is a gas-filled bladder (now that sounds like Congress); the tentacles are the killers that deliver prey; then there are two other organisms that do digestion and reproduction. I feel that such a remarkable example of God's handiwork deserves to be painted on gold. I wish you could see the metallic gold background on the computer.

Rain's Coming, 30x40 Seascape Oil on Canvas

These are two of the paintings I will be exhibiting at my show on Anna Maria Island, at Paradise Found AMI, this Friday, the 16th of December. The address is 505 Pine Avenue. If you are in the area, please stop by.

I love painting weather. You can look out over the ocean and see all sorts of weather phenomena. Between the sky and the surf, there is always something to paint, even on a sunny day.

Storm's Coming, 30x40 Oil on Canvas, Seascape

This painting will be on display in October-November with the Pieces of Eight art exhibit at the Fountains of Melbourne, Florida.

I love painting weather. The skies here are just amazing, no matter what the weather, and if you live in Florida and run out of things to paint, just look up!

I Believe in Discovery, A Florida Oil Painting of the Discovery of Florida by Ponce de Leon, by Judy Batterson, Florida Artist

This past year the state of Florida celebrated the 500th anniversary of the discovery of Florida by Ponce de Leon. A replica of his ship, El Galeon, sailed from Spain to Florida to retrace where Ponce de Leon had gone around the peninsula. I toured this beautiful sailing ship while it docked at Port Canaveral. After visiting the coastal areas around the state where Ponce and his men explored, I painted a large diptych to honor them. This is the first part. 18x24 Oil on board.

Paintings of Children at the Beach by Sharon Guy

Building Sandcastles,
Watercolor, 8 in. x 6 in.

I enjoy sketching and painting children playing on the beach. I did this watercolor on site. I had to work quickly to capture the scene before the children moved. Fortunately, they stayed in the same positions while they worked on their project.

A Day at the Beach, Beach Art by Judy Batterson

A day at the beach means palm trees, sand dunes, sea oats, a sandy path perhaps with a treasure from the sea, and sailboats catching the ocean breeze. I put all of these in this painting to capture the feel of a Florida beach day. The only thing missing is you! 5 x 7" original oil.

Sandpiper Tracks, Beach Sand Dune Ocean Oil Painting by Judy Batterson

A view of the ocean through the dunes showcased the sun lighting up the sky with vivid colors. What caught my eye were the tiny little birdie tracks in the sand. Sandpipers had scurried to the water's edge through the sand. It took many tries to get those little tracks just right, but I think they made the painting more interesting. The detail in this painting shows that the dunes are more than just sand. They can be fascinating and always changing with vegetation and the wind. Original 8 x 10 oil on masonite. (Sold)

Ponce Inlet Sailboat, Small Florida Oil Painting by Judy Batterson

Ponce Inlet is where the river meets the ocean between Daytona and New Smyrna Beaches. Boat traffic is heavy in this area, and on a good day, numerous sailboats are heading out to sea. I like to paint them from the south side of the inlet. This small painting is
oil on a 4 x 4" stretched canvas which sits on a small easel. $45 www.judybatterson.com

Playful Palm, a Fun Coastal Florida Oil Painting by Judy Batterson

This 8x10 oil on masonite painting of a palm along the beach is a fun and colorful small painting that livens up a space. It started out more technical and ended up with loose brushstrokes as the little palm took on its own personality. A tropical breeze and a colorful sky captures fun memories at the beach. I love this little palm tree because it was fun to paint! www.judybatterson.com

And I Will Walk With You, an Oil Painting of Footprints by Judy Batterson

This 4 x 12" oil painting was commissioned by my friend Annie. She took photos of her toes and wanted her own version of
the story known as "Footprints". A little whimsy mixed with symbolism makes this unique. With His arm around her shoulder, she and her Lord are both facing the future together, standing at the edge of the ocean, ready to go deeper still. Although not my usual landscape painting, this was such a joy and humbling experience to paint the feet of my friend. It was like washing her feet.
