ZACK - SOLD

I like to paint animals. One client came to me with three white standard poodles and commissioned portraits of each. As much of an animal lover as I am, I was not sure I could capture the personalities of three individual but identical dogs. My client was very happy and recognized each dog from his portrait. They are some of my favorite animal portraits.

BUDDIES, 6X8, OIL SOLD

There is nothing like the company of your dog.  They are fun, and faithful and when you are a young girl, they can add so much to your life.  I was raised as an only child and some of my best childhood memories involve my pet dogs.  This girl was sitting on a rock high over the Nantahala River at  NOC, watching the kayaks run the rapids.

BRANDY, 6X8, OIL, SOLD

Brandy is a sweetheart of a dog.  She lives with a friend of mine.  Carla and Brandy spend time visiting nursing homes and bringing a little joy into the lives of the residents they meet.  I know how important this is because my mother lived in a nursing home.  She always tells me when someone brings a dog in.  She is a dog lover from way back and it is amazing how a minute or two with a dog will brighten her day.  Thanks, Carla!

Frisky, DMannion

Diane Mannion, Frisky, 6x6" oil
Man and friend playing at the beach near Stump Pass across from Palm Island.  The waves were the wake kicked up by boats heading out to the Gulf.  We kayaked out to this blissful spot along the intercoastal, took a short break and skirted along the beach on the way back.  Paddled right over a manatee!  Watched it's huge tail miss my kayak by inches as it glided away in the crystal, clear water.

Poodle Art by Sharon Guy

Poodle in Pink
Acrylic on Canvas, 11 in. x 14 in.

The animals are taking over my studio. I'm working on a series of dog paintings in acrylics. This Standard Poodle looks very serious, in spite of the pink and yellow colors.

Portrait of a Dog

Dark Eyes,
Oil on panel, 8 in. x 6 in.

This is a portrait of my dog, Leo. He looked up from his nap while I took his photo. I've been sketching and taking pictures of my two dogs. His eyes are remarkable. I think it is important to get the eyes right in a pet portrait. If the eyes are right, the rest of the painting will follow.

LabMaster

While in NY, I was mesmerized by these beautiful gowns that were in a window on Madison Avenue. Since then I have been photographing many storefront displays! Tutu's seem to be very popular for window designs.

Scenes from the Farmers Market

Buddies, Oil on canvas, 10 in. x 12 in.

The Farmers Market is a good place to find scenes to paint. There are a lot of dogs at the farmers market in Sarasota, Florida. Here, a boy pets a gorgeous collie while the adults stand around and talk. The dog is obviously enjoying the attention very much. I painted the intense light and shadows with strong colors. I look for scenes that have dramatic shadows, cute children and animals. Sharon Guy Art.

Opie

This piece was a commissioned portrait. What an adorable dog (West Highland White Terrier) and a pleasure to paint!
