Italian Man, 8x10 Original Oil Painting, Venice Scene

This man was waiting for a train outside Venice and the light was shining so beautifully on him. In spite of my digital camera having that delay before being able to snap the first shot, I did get the picture before our train pulled out of the station.

I hope I see Venice again before I shuffle off this mortal coil. What a beautiful and unique city.

Figurative Painting, Daily Painting, 16x20 Oil Painting, "One the Rocks"

Several years ago, when my children and grandchildren came for a visit, I took a photograph of my young granddaughter.  She was perched on a rock, next to the rapids of the Nantahala River, watching as kayakers and rafters made their way down the river.

Naturally, I wanted to paint the scene, which I did, as a 16x20" oil.  I gave this piece to my daughter and she cherishes it to this day.

I have had several requests for prints of this piece, and recently included it on my Etsy site as a canvas giclee' print.  Follow the link under the image for details.

I also want to show you the companion piece, same place, same story, featuring her brother, my oldest grandson.

It is also available as a print.  If you are interested, please contact me for details.

Enjoy your day!

Figurative Pastel Painting of Children, "I Have a Dream...." 15x19"

I was notified a few days ago that my painting "I Have A Dream" has been awarded "Best of Show" in the May challenge at CFAI.com.

Purchase here

I'm thrilled to have this honor.

Several years ago, before cell phones etc, I was attending an Easter egg hunt when these two darling babies  suddenly embraced.  I was lucky enough to have a camera pointed in their direction at the right time.  When I saw the image, all I could think about was Martin Luther King's famous speech.

Bourbon Street Babe Two

Went back and tweaked Bourbon Street Babe One a tiny bit, with the hopes of brightening her a tiny bit! Then went on to try her once again, this time obviously zooming in a bit. This young lady was covered with tattoos on her arms...not sure if I was successful getting that across?

NYC Wall

This painting was inspired by my trip to NYC for a workshop that was absolutely wonderful! This was painted during the workshop and I thought I would go back and tweak it...

Since then I have had the most wonderful summer I can remember in a long long time. I taught a drawing class in June and then went on an 18 day road trip through 19 states! I have taken a tremendous amount of photos which will keep me busy for the next year if not more.

I also moved a week ago to a new city, not far from where I have been living for the last 21+ years. It is very close to where I work and lots of amenities to offer! This is my dream come true...a beautiful room that is going to be my studio. Still getting settled, but planning on painting tomorrow for most of the day.

One more week until school starts and back to teaching, which I truly love! My schedule will allow much painting time! CAN'T WAIT!

While in NY, I was mesmerized by these beautiful gowns that were in a window on Madison Avenue. Since then I have been photographing many storefront displays! Tutu's seem to be very popular for window designs.

Scenes from the Farmers Market

Buddies, Oil on canvas, 10 in. x 12 in.

The Farmers Market is a good place to find scenes to paint. There are a lot of dogs at the farmers market in Sarasota, Florida. Here, a boy pets a gorgeous collie while the adults stand around and talk. The dog is obviously enjoying the attention very much. I painted the intense light and shadows with strong colors. I look for scenes that have dramatic shadows, cute children and animals. Sharon Guy Art.
