I want to comment on my predictions for yesterday's post, Remembering Bat Cave. First off, based on recent viewing stats on the Daily Painters Website, I have seen a trend in what types of paintings of mine are liked enough to be worthy of a second, closer look. It's probably no surprise at all to hear that it's the ones with high value contrast. You also like the paintings with buildings a lot. Put the two of those together and my viewing stats go through the roof. I knew that a lower contrast, more subtle color and value range would not draw anywhere near the attention that the others of recent past have. Even with the buildings that help give a sense of place. I'll bet many of you other artists out there find the very same thing; that often when you love a certain painting, not many others share the feeling. It's curious how that works. No matter really, there were still enough admirers that I feel I've accomplished the main goal, and that is always to 'relate' somehow to my viewers. And thanks to all of you who have made so many nice comments! Oh - as for this post, Living Green, I am back to high contrast, but chose to keep the color palette pretty much in the greens, with shifts in temperature and value to tell the story.
