Plein Air Painting from North Carolina by Sharon Guy
Mountain Shapes, Oil on canvas, 8 in. x 10 in.
I painted this on site at Wildacres in North Carolina. I used a simple design to show the shapes of the mountains and trees without a lot of detail. Painting en plein air gave me some fresh material to use for a series of mountain paintings. Working outside can be a struggle, but I succeeded in finding scenes that I could work from to create powerful images. I consider a painting a success when I express emotion and mood with color and design, rather than merely representing the landscape in an ordinary way. My website is at Sharon Guy Art.
