Sarasota Bay, Oil on panel, 7 in. x 5 in.
I did a couple of small studies of boats on Sarasota Bay. I noticed the contrast between the dark rocks and the sparkling water. The more I paint water, the more I realize what a complex subject it is. Water, light, and reflections become the most important part of the painting for me.
