Florida Art From the Beach

Together, Oil on canvas, 20 in. x 16 in. by Sharon Guy

Another scene from a beautiful sunrise on the Atlantic. I spent an early morning watching the sun come up on Neptune Beach. I saw a woman walking her dog and enjoying the scenery. They both looked happy to be there. The light was muted but the colors got more and more intense as the sun started to rise over the water. I painted the simple essence of the scene, which has a mysterious, peaceful quality. My website is at Sharon Guy Art.

Neptune Beach, Jacksonville, Florida

Sunrise, Neptune Beach, Oil on canvas, 26" x 18"

Here is another painting from my February trip to Jacksonville for a half marathon race. I painted a lot of sunsets and sunrises in 2009 and 2010. Lately I've been moving on to other subjects for a change. Neptune Beach was a fun place to stay. I liked walking by the high dunes and tall grasses. Seeing a sunrise over the water instead of a sunset was inspiring. I live in southwest Florida and I've watched the sun rise over a nearby pasture on a few early mornings. Neptune Beach, Jacksonville, Florida

Glorious, Oil on canvas, 24 in. x 30 in.

In February, I visited Neptune Beach in the Jacksonville area for a half-marathon race. I got up early the morning after the race to enjoy the incredible sunrise on Neptune Beach. I stood behind the high dunes and grasses and watched the sun rise above the ocean. The Atlantic Ocean has more blues and purples than the Gulf of Mexico, which has a greenish hue. The light and shadows were dramatic, with an intense contrast between the orange and the bluish-purple areas. My website is at Sharon Guy Art.
