Crate of Oranges, A Florida Vintage Postcard Small Oil Painting by Judy Batterson, Florida Artist

Florida citrus was shipped in plain wooden crates until 1904 when Florida growers created distinctive labels pasted on the ends of the crates. These had art depicting Florida's exotic flowers, birds and animals. Gift crates had stenciled "from Florida", guaranteeing these were Florida oranges! This one was the Waverly Growers distinct label. Painted in oil from a vintage Florida postcard. 5x7".

Florida Oranges, a Crate of Florida Citrus by Judy Batterson

What is better than an orange from Florida? A crate of oranges!! The inspiration for this painting came from a vintage post card. I took the idea and added depth and color along with the orange crate label and orange blossoms. A day without orange juice is like a day without sunshine! 5 x 7 original oil painting.
