Still Life, Watercolor Fine Art Painting "2 EGGPLANTS" The Art of Nature, Fine Art by Mindy Lighthipe

Purple is by far my favorite color! I had fun doing these 2 eggplants as a part of my online watercolor class demonstrations. I used lots of strong color to get the bold dark almost black purple and hardly any color on the variegated one. It was challenging and I enjoy pushing myself in different directions, learning just how far I can push the paint. This listing is for the original and ships free in the continental USA. All other inquires please contact the artist for shipping costs.

Still Life Flower Art Painting "Blue Haze" by Florida Impressionism Artist Annie St Martin

Every time I see a hydrangea bloom I think of the wonderful day trips to the islands off the Rhode Island coast. Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket and Block Island (lovingly referred to as "Block" by the islanders) are home to some of the most spectacular hydrangea displays I've ever seen. Quite often they are a backdrop for bright white picket fences. They nestle there with those beautiful coastal sea roses, that climb where they may. Hardiness is one of their most remarkable characteristics. They stoically withstand the harsh New England winters and flourish again the next year. In amazement, I look at this delicate flower and I think about the people who planted these gems and tempered these difficult winters.

Contemporary Still Life Flower Art Painting "Flashing Primaries" by Florida Impressionism Artist Annie St Martin

Flashing Primaries is an oil painting done on canvas paper. I love the primary colors. So much diversity with only three colors...the basis for it all. Life is so simple, why complicate it.

Hydrangea Still Life Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Flower Painting, 8x10" Original Oil Painting, SOLD

Last winter, I spent three months on the east coast of Florida.  It involved many walks on the beach, and my painting was full of seagulls, and seascapes.

I also painted this hydrangea still life.  I hope you like it.

Where do I go from here?, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting

Traditionally, January is when we evaluate our performance over the last twelve months, and look at the direction we are headed.  I am a little late!

Artistically, I see nothing but question marks.  I want to have a clear plan, a path to follow and mark my progress, but alas, it evades me.

I looked through my posts from last year, and picked out my favorite pieces, hoping against hope that they will tell me where I am headed.

 Abstract Expressionism?

Maybe....

Thick Paint?

 Impressionism?

 Brushwork?
 Knife?

Really thin paint?

Or does it really matter?

All this thinking is making my head hurt!

I am happy I found this many pieces, from last year, that speak to ME.  I am happy with them which makes me happy with me.

Maybe 2018 will find me treading the straight and narrow.....but somehow, I don't think so.

Thank you all, for joining me on my crazy, unplanned journey!

Still Life Painting, Fruit,Orange, "Florida Oranges" by Florida Impressionism Artist Annie St Martin

My favorite drink when those oranges are perfectly ripened and sweet. The most beautiful fragrance fills the air when the trees are in bloom...like heavenly perfume.

Pear and Plum Still Life, Palette Knife Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 6x8" Oil on canvas panel, sold

Have not done a still life, or a palette knife painting for a while, so this one was in my comfort zone.

SOLD

I naturally tend to lean towards cool colors, so I had fun working all my favorite color relationships.

This scene is a repaint, from years ago.  I couldn't find the original photograph, but I did have a photo of the first painting, so I used that as a guide.  The first painting was done with a brush, which is why I decided to mix it up a little, by using a palette knife this time around.

Hope you enjoy it!
