Mountain Wildflower Painting, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, 6x8" Oil Painting
Another little painting from the Smoky Mountains.
It was a beautiful day, and not long after this hike, we had a picnic. Yummy sandwiches on home made bread, fresh fruit, delicious apple cake from the orchard, and a beautiful view. Life at it's best!
Thanks for visiting my blog today.

Summer landscape painting, Palette Knife Painting, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, 6x8" Oil on panel
January and February.....the months when winter days grow dreary! I feel that way too, and decided it was the perfect time to paint something bright and cheery.

Just a little reminder of summer and warmer days ahead!

Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Colorado Wildflowers, Flower Painting, 8x10x1.5" Oil, Colorado Kansas Line
Years ago, I lived in both Colorado and Kansas, but I don't remember these wildflowers that I found growing everywhere, when I visited there last year.

They must have been there, but a visit is different than a young woman, raising a family and working full time.
Sorry for the glare on this image.
I added great swirls of texture to the canvas before painting, trying to capture the feel of flowers swaying in the breeze.
Can you tell I was facing east when I took this shot? In Colorado (at least where I was) when you face west you see the Rockies, when you face east, you see the prairie.
Thanks for reading my blog today.....and keep painting!!

WILDFLOWERS, ACRYLIC, 20X24, SOLD
This is definitely not my usual painting! A few years ago, I took a month long workshop with Fritz VanEeden. Fritz is a very well known and respected artist from Holland who has been living in our town at least part of the year. I was fortunate enough to work with him for over a month, 3 days a week, for 4-5 hours. Fritz is obsessed, and if he is awake, he must have a paintbrush in his hand! He is also a wonderful man. I do enjoy this type of painting, but I just couldn't get the hang of painting out of my head. So this is my one and only true abstract! Now, my varnishing question got several replies, both here and on facebook, and the winner is......retouch varnish! I have run to my art supply store to grab a can and now feel much more confident in my technique. So, thank you all very much for your replies!
