Cow Love, Animal Painting, Original Oil on Canvas, 8x10

This scene of maternal love was on a farm in Pennsylvania. Mama cow actually had an ear outlined with huge burrs, but I didn't care to add that to the painting.

Rain's Coming, 30x40 Seascape Oil on Canvas

These are two of the paintings I will be exhibiting at my show on Anna Maria Island, at Paradise Found AMI, this Friday, the 16th of December. The address is 505 Pine Avenue. If you are in the area, please stop by.

I love painting weather. You can look out over the ocean and see all sorts of weather phenomena. Between the sky and the surf, there is always something to paint, even on a sunny day.

Yellow Roses, 11x14 Floral Still Life Oil on Canvas Panel

Roses are challenging, and so is that yellow teapot. This is a very warm painting, and I think that's why I like it. The red pear adds a dash of hot color.

Autumn Tree, Landscape Original Painting, 6x8 Oil on Canvas Panel by Carmen Beecher

Since I live by the beach, I get very excited when I see Fall colors. This tree just seemed to glow. We were in upstate Pennsylvania, staying on a farm. What a different way of life from flip-flop-wearing, easygoing Florida.

Storm's Coming, 30x40 Oil on Canvas, Seascape

This painting will be on display in October-November with the Pieces of Eight art exhibit at the Fountains of Melbourne, Florida.

I love painting weather. The skies here are just amazing, no matter what the weather, and if you live in Florida and run out of things to paint, just look up!

Mango High, 6x8 Original Oil Daily Painting, Fruit

It is mango season and there are so many mangoes right now. For those of us who love them it is a glorious time. I was in Bradenton recently, standing under a tree that had dropped mangoes on the ground. Gorgeous fruit just lying all around. Way, way up in the tree were these beautiful collections of fruit, and I especially liked this one because of the lone ripe mango among the lavender ones. So, the title "Mango High" can be taken two ways.

Here's a tip I learned last week about cutting and peeling mangoes: make a cut around the fruit, all the way to the seed. Use a glass or a cup (easier with a cup, holding it by the handle) and scoop the fruit out of the peeling. Do it firmly and you will have no waste. Then chomp on the seed and get the pulp all over your face like you usually do. Mango high.

The Little Birds, 6x8 Original Oil Daily Painting Seascape

This is a very typical scene on the Space Coast of Florida. Before I cross over the dunes I never know what color the water will be, what size the waves will be, or how many birds there will be. I only know that a peaceful feeling comes over me--unless it's stormy, and I like that too. Clouds and waves do all kinds of interesting things when it's stormy.

Northwest Road, 8x6 Oil on Canvas Panel, Landscape Daily Painting

This is a happy memory, from when our nephew, who is quite the outdoorsman and photographer, took us to remote places in the Cascades that tourists don't know about. What an exhilarating place to be! Washington is an absolutely fabulous state to visit and I can't wait to go back.

We are now in the mountains and they are in us, kindling enthusiasm, making every nerve quiver, filling every pore and cell of us.

Tahiti Beach, 6x8 Oil on Canvas Panel Seascape, Elbow Cay, Abacos Islands

For Sale on Etsy

This is the place of my dreams. The water is pristine and clear, the sand is sparkling white, and the sky is blue. Stress is a thing of the past when you are in a place like this. It's beautiful Tahiti Beach, not in the Pacific, but on Elbow Cay in the Abacos Islands, Bahamas. There is no traffic because there are no cars. A golf cart suffices. One of my favorite places ever. Drop me off with my paints for a month or so.

Cybertot, 8x10 Oil on Canvas by Carmen Beecher

I couldn't resist getting a shot of this little techie guy playing on his phone in a coffee shop. I love the way the sun lights up his red hair. What a cutie!

I now have the date for my one-woman show in Middleburg, Virginia: April 22nd. More details will follow as the time gets closer. Spring in Middleburg is lovely anyway, so I'm very happy to have an art event there.
